Spring 2025 Update from Classical Manager Max Ramirez

I sincerely hope all of you are enjoying this warming of the weather. At least I hope you all are, as I am writing this in advance of its publishing. You never know what midwestern weather will really be like! One thing that is certain is your appreciation of classical music. To increase your access to the broad spectrum of classical music, we are making a few changes to the program schedule.

You may have noticed a new addition to our Sunday morning programming: A Joyful Noise. Airing Sundays at 6 A.M., this program celebrates the vast choral tradition that has soothed souls and fed spirits for centuries. Each week, host Brian Lauritzen brings you works spanning a millennium, from Gregorian chant to contemporary works and everything in between.

Sunday afternoons are going to get even better with the return of Pipedreams to the Classical schedule. Hosted by Michael Barone, the program explores the full range of the art and potential of the pipe organ, from majestic instruments in cathedrals and concert halls to the “mighty Wurlitzers” of movie houses. Pipedreams will air Sundays at 1 P.M., following Sunday Baroque. A few programs will shift times to accommodate the addition of the new program. For instance, Performance Today Weekend will move to 3 P.M.

Classical Guitar Alive! will return to WILL-FM on Saturdays at 4 P.M. Host Tony Morris guides you down a beautiful path of classical guitar melodies that are sure to brighten your afternoon. Alongside interviews with leading guitar performers and composers, the show highlights a vast repertoire of music, including guitar-related music of other cultures.

Now, I’m sure you’re wondering about All Things Considered Weekends. We have opted to stop running this program on Classical 90.9 to bring you even more classical music. All Things Considered will continue to be a part of the weekend news schedule on AM 580.

For a detailed view of our schedule, see here.

It’s a privilege to provide you with such influential and inspiring programs. Many of these decisions were made because of your devotion to WILL and your invaluable feedback. I appreciate your continued listening and support of WILL Classical 90.9 FM.

Sincerely,

Max Ramirez

Manager, WILL Classical 90.9 FM
