Recall that last week the Philharmonic gave us Beethoven's 1st (published) Piano Concerto, which was actually composed second. Tonight it's the 2nd (published) Piano Concerto which was composed before the first. Confusing? No matter. Tune in tonight for the 2nd and 3rd Beethoven Piano Concertos.

Beethoven's 1st (Piano Concerto) was completed after the 2nd (Piano Concerto) which was started first, ten years previously and the 4th (Piano Concerto) was completed within the next ten years. Your wait between the 1st and 4th concertos will be much shorter!
The concerto-style of composition (a solo instrument versus the ensemble) clearly works for violin with 'sound evidence' in Beethoven's Romances for Violin and Orchestra. Does it work for electronica?
