The Evening Concert

Wednesday night October 5 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra”. You’ll hear Stravinsky’s “Firebird Suite”.  Music Director Ken-David Masur conducts. Also on the program Duke Ellington’s “New World A-Comin” and Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” with soloist Aaron Diehl.

Tuesday night October 4 at 7:00 on the Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Shostakovich’s “6th Symphony”.  Music Director Riccardo Muti conducts. Also on the program Mendelssohn’s “Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage” Overture and Liszt’s “6th Symphonic Poem”.

Monday night October 3 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. From the archives you’ll hear Richard Strauss’ “Don Juan” and Schumann’s “2nd Symphony”. Christoph von Dohnanyi guest conducts. Also on the program, Brahms’ “1st Piano Concerto” with soloist Paul Lewis.

Sunday night October 2 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Chopin’s Opus 8 “Piano Trio” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear Latin American classical music from Brazil on “Fiesta”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 we present two specials from the “Ebony Classics” series. You’ll hear George Walker’s “3rd Piano Sonata”, Mary Lou Williams’ “St. Martin de Porres”, Florence Price’s “Ethiopia’s Shadow in America” and Regina Carter’s “Alexandra”.

Wednesday night September 28 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Los Angeles Philharmonic”.  Gustavo Dudamel leads the Philharmonic in William Grant Still’s “1st Symphony”. Also on the program Peter Lieberson’s “Neruda Songs” and Angelica Negron’s “Morivivi”.

Tuesday night September 27 at 7:00 on the Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”.  Music Director Riccardo Muti leads the CSO in Liszt’s “”Les Preludes”, Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo and Juliet”, and Respighi’s “Pines of Rome”. Also on the program Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition”.

Monday night Setpember 26 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear vocal soloists Dorothea Röschmann, Anne Sofie von Otter, Steve Davislim, and Eric Owens with the New York Choral Artists in Bach’s “Mass in B minor”.

Sunday night September 25 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Bach’s BWV1039 “Trio Sonata for Two Flutes” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear the Camerata Punta del Este on “Fiesta”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s a “Deutsche Welle Festival Concert”. You’ll hear the Berlin Philharmonic, Berlin Radio Chorus and vocal soloists in Verdi’s “Requiem”. Also on the program Ukranian composer  Silvestrov’s “The Messenger”.
