Mahler’s “5th” & Mendelssohn’s “Violin Concerto” on the “Evening Concert”

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on FM 90.9 guest conductor Donald Runnicles leads the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in Mahler’s “5th Symphony”. Also on the program   CSO Concertmaster Robert Chen is the soloist in Mendelssohn’s “Violin Concerto in E  Minor”.

Mahler: Symphony No. 5          

Beethoven: Coriolan Overture, Op. 62

Mendelssohn wrote his "Violin Concerto" for the concertmaster of his Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra: Ferdinand David. David also played the premiere of the work.
