December 2024 Episodes

John Bodensteiner, Kay Carnes and Phil Nixon join us in our studio this month to discuss some helpful ways to get your gardens ready for winter. John introduces a cloche for increasing plant success rates, while Kay shares her experience with a fake laurel tree, noting its growth and care. Phil discusses the northern giant hornet and its impact on honey bee colonies.

Then later in the month, John also shares tips on plant care, including using a foldable pot to prevent dirt spills and a cloche to retain moisture for plants. He introduces us to the String of Turtles plant and demonstrates propagation techniques. John also discusses the importance of proper watering for poinsettias and air layering for rooting new plants.

Then, we make a return visit to the Delight Flower Farm, and owner Maggie Taylor demonstrates wreath-making using fresh greens and dried flowers, emphasizing the historical and cultural significance of wreaths.
