ENCORE: Author Chibundu Onuzo; ‘The Wildlands’

Chibundu Onuzo is a Nigerian author from one of the world’s largest and most vibrant cities. It’s the subject of her first novel, Welcome to Lagos. Plus, Chicago writer Abby Geni has always been in love with the outdoors. But her second novel, The Wildlands, is about nature’s darker side and one Oklahoma family’s struggle to survive.

Champaign’s Goal Getters Program Will Expand In Coming School Year

Goal Getters is intended to reduce violence and provide leadership skills to youth in Champaign. The initiative was created by the Champaign Unit 4 Schools, city of Champaign and the Champaign Community Coalition in the wake of an especially violent year in Champaign-Urbana. This fall, the program will expand to provide mentorship to students enrolled in Booker T. Washington Elementary and Edison Middle Schools.
