Governor Bruce Rauner's proposal to cut the state budget took a spectacular fall Wednesday in the Illinois House, as all Democrats cast 'no' votes, and all Republicans voted 'present.'
The full Illinois House spent much of Tuesday in a rare, full committee meeting focused on workers' compensation. But the chamber didn't vote on further changes to a system that's been in place since 2011.
Former city council member Deb Frank Feinen was sworn in Tuesday tonight as Champaign's new mayor, along with other newly elected city officials, including new city councilman Matt Gladney.
The Champaign City Council gets its first look at the suggested 2015-16 budget plan Tuesday night. City staff have been asked to consider potential reductions coming from Gov. Bruce Rauner's proposed cuts in state-shared revenues, but there are no specific cuts in this plan.
