The Champaign-Urbana Film Society is putting on the sixth-annual Pens to Lens writing competition.

Kids from grades K-12 can submit a five-page screenplay. Thomas Nicol with the Champaign-Urbana Film Society says the kids may see their writing come to life on screen. "The prize is selected screen plays will be produced by local film-makers and be screened at the Virginia Theater in August," he said.

Nicol says the students are very talented and he’s seen several creative screenplays over the years. If kids are interested in the technical side of film making, they can help produce the Pens to Lens productions. Last year, 400 students took part in Pens to Lens — from writing to helping make the movies.

Students have until February 28 to submit their screenplays. For more information, visit PensToLens.com.
