Champaign County Auditor Wants To Replace Retiring County Treasurer

The current Champaign County Auditor wants to be appointed as the next county treasurer.

According to his Facebook page, Auditor John Farney wants to replace retiring Champaign County Treasurer Dan Welch.

Both are Republicans.

Welch will retire at the end of the year, one year before his term expires. The Champaign County Board will appoint his successor. Farney wants the board to appoint him.

Farney has been auditor since 2012. He says he will run in 2018 for a full term for county Treasurer.
