IDOT’s Proposed Highway Improvement Plan Includes Reconstruction Of Interstate 57 & 74 Interchange
Governor Bruce Rauner Tuesday announced the Department of Transportation’s multi-year plan for road projects across the state.
In Champaign County, the largest project on the list is a complete reconstruction of the Interstate 57 and Interstate 74 interchange. That project would begin during fiscal year 2019 with utility adjustments, with the construction to take place sometime from fiscal year 2020 to 2024. The price tag would total about $120,000,000.
Also in the proposal for fiscal year 2019 are projects to resurface about 8 miles of Interstate 74 east of St. Joseph, resurfacing of Bloomington Road between Mattis and Prospect Avenues in Champaign, and reconstruction of Prospect Avenue between Windsor and Curtis Roads in Champaign and Savoy.
You can find a map with all of the proposed projects in Champaign County and read the entire multi-year plan below.
