Tours Of Allerton Park Mansion To Be Offered Sunday

On Sunday, visitors of Allerton Park in Monticello will have a chance to tour the famous mansion located on the property. Robert Allerton is well known for his love of art, and his donation of more than 6,600 items to the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1900, he built the mansion. Illinois Public Media’s Sean Powers recently got a tour of it by Matt Smith, the marketing director at the park.

The tours of the mansion begin this Sunday from noon until 4pm. Each tour will last approximately 45 minutes, and there is a $5 charge for each guest. Children under two can get in free. Click here for more information.
