Vermilion County State’s Attorney Employee Under Investigation

Illinois State Police and the FBI are investigating an employee in the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s office.

That’s according to Vermilion County State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy, who says she contacted federal authorities when she learned of the state Police investigation on Monday.

No details have been released about the nature of the charges the employee may be facing.

In a news release, Lacy says the employee under investigation has been placed on unpaid administrative leave, pending the investigation’s wrap-up.

"No person is above the law including any employee of the Vermilion County State's Attorney's Office," the news release stated.

Also, Lacy says all cases involving the employee will be reviewed to ensure that procedures and the law were properly followed

A spokesperson for the Illinois State Police Zone 5 office in Champaign confirmed Wednesday that the investigation was underway.
