Woman Critically Injured in Urbana Shooting

A homeless woman was undergoing surgery Wednesday morning, after being critically injured in a shooting in northwest Urbana.

Urbana Police say the shooting occurred early Wednesday morning on the north side of 1400 West Eads Street, near the entrance to the Hamilton on the Park public housing complex.

The 22-year-old woman was taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana.

Police are seeking a male suspect in his early 20s. But other details, including the motive for the shooting, were not known.
