Andrew Valentine fell in love with skateboarding more than 18 years ago. He enjoyed the challenge of the sport and the thrill of new tricks. After skating for years in the community and at his regular skating hang, Spalding Park in Champaign, Valentine recognized the need for a skating supplies and apparel shop. He opened Skeuwep at the back of See You CD and Vinyl in Urbana in .
Skeuwep handcrafts boards with custom designs and sells skating apparel and accessories. Since it opened, the store has become a real social and community hub for enthusiasts. Its custom designs have attracted fans from larger skating communities. Valentine also keeps his eye out for the needs of skating enthusiasts who can’t afford pricey boards by sponsoring talented skaters.
