Jeff Beal: House of Cards, Composer in Concert

On this week's Prairie Performances, Friday at 7 pm on WILL-FM 90.9, its a concert by the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra and led by Stephen Alltop features the work of a single composer. That composer is Jeff Beal, American composer for film, media and the concert hall. His credits include the wildly popular Netflix series House of Cards, HBO’s Rome, the documentary Blackfish, and numerous films and concert works. An accomplished trumpet soloist, Beal will perform his own Trumpet Concerto and speak about his experience as a Hollywood composer. J. David Harris, Professor of Clarinet at the University of Illinois will be soloist in Beal’s Clarinet Concerto, and the concert opens with the “Pollock Suite”, music written for Ed Harris’s memorable painting scenes in the 2000 film biography of painter Jackson Pollock.
