Saint Matthew Passion
On this week's Prairie Performances, Friday night at 7 pm on WILL-FM 90.9, listen to an encore broadcast performance of Johann Sebastian Bach’s oratorio Saint Matthew Passion with Sinfonia da Camera. Bach’s Saint Matthew Passion, written in 1727, is a sacred oratorio based on the Passion narrative from the book of Saint Matthew in the New Testament.
Tonight’s performance features Sinfonia da Camera; the Central Illinois Children’s Chorus; the University of Illinois Chorale; and the UI Oratorio Society. Tarik Bousselma sings the words of the Evangelist and Ricardo Herrera those of Jesus. Fred Stoltzfus is guest conductor for this performance.
