The American Century
On this week's Prairie Performances, Friday at 7 pm on WILL-FM 90.9: Works by great American composers are on offer in a program that begins with Bernstein’s most popular overture, strolls the sleepy streets of Knoxville, and bursts with the vitality of Broadway in the 1930’s. Violinist Rachel Patrick joins Sinfonia da Camera in presenting the world premiere of David Canfield’s Rhapsody after Gershwin, and the concert concludes with a sparkling suite of favorites from George Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, arranged by Robert Russell Bennett for outsized orchestra.
