Regular listeners to the "Evening Concert" series may note that this work was on a Chicago Symphony Orchestra program 8 days ago. When the orchestras put together their radio series they don't consult each other. So, on occasion there's an unintended synchronicity/repetition of compositions, like the Mahler "9th". I hope you enjoy this recording of the work (Vincent Trauth, curator of the "Evening Concert' Series)
You'll also hear Mahler's "Songs of a Wayfarer".
There might be at least one person who's come here and hasn't listened to this great(-est?) of all classical music works...the final movement has the famous "Ode to Joy". Join us and En-Joy!
The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus plus vocal soloists are led by Kirill Petrenko.
