Springfield may be a desert when it comes to budget deals but it seemed like there was a small oasis -- an agreement between Gov. Rauner and Democratic Senate President John Cullerton on pensions.

Struggling due to a lack of state funding, Chicago State University says it will eliminate spring break this year, to ensure its students finish the semester before the school runs out of money and is forced to close.

Speakers included area mayors, state legislators, and people on the EIU campus.

Gov. Bruce Rauner used his amendatory veto power to block a bill to reopen the Illinois State Museum, stating that he would support reopening the museum with private funding only.
