A small group of about 25 white supremacist demonstrators rallied next to the White House on Sunday, one year after the "Unite the Right" demonstration by the same organizer turned deadly in Charlottesville, Va.

Since last weekend's events in Charlottesville, Virginia – politicians and everyday people across Illinois have spoken out against the violence and hateful rhetoric.

University of Illinois administrators are condemning the “hate-filled violence” in Charlottesville, Virginia last weekend. The statement is signed by U of I President Tim Killeen and the chancellors of the three university campuses.

During a visit to a manufacturing plant in Champaign Monday, Illinois Congressman Rodney Davis says he was satisfied with President Trump’s original comments about the race-fueled violence that occurred Saturday in Charlottesville, Virginia. But Davis says he was glad the president made an additional statement on Monday specifically condemning the KKK, neo-Nazis and white supremacist groups.
