An audit requested by the Urbana District 116 Board of Education points to problems with the hiring process in a handful of hires made in the last year and a half, according to an audit report obtained by Illinois Public Media

Five principals as well as several parents and teachers voiced their support for superintendent Don Owen at an Urbana District 116 Board of Education meeting Sunday evening.
 

Roughly 100 people showed up to a town hall meeting at Urbana High School Tuesday night. The meeting was called in response to community concerns about student safety and, at points, grew contentious with parents and students complaining about a lack of security at the high school and a perceived lack of discipline.

Both the Urbana and Champaign school districts will receive additional state funding over the next five years to support their preschool programs.
