The Illini baseball team stays alive in the Big Ten Tournament with a 2-0 shutout of Michigan State Friday.  They play Michigan at 1 p.m. Saturday, and hope to play them again Saturday evening for a shot at the championship game.

Illinois' 2-1 loss to Maryland at the Big Tournament at Target Field ends a Big Ten record 27-game winning streak.  The Illini will now take on Michigan State in an elimination game Friday night at 7:30.

With its 45-6-1 record, and current 26-game winning streak, U of I Athletic staff say Illinois Field is a mere 'lock' to host its first-ever NCAA baseball regional the weekend of May 29-31.
