In 1999, film critic and Champaign-Urbana native Roger Ebert and his wife Chaz, started an annual festival in Champaign to highlight overlooked movies. Ebertfest returned to Champaign’s Virginia Theatre for “One Last Dance" on April 17 and 18.

Champaign's Ebertfest is coming to an end at least in its current form. The co-founder and the director of the famous local film festival discuss its history, this weekend’s festivities, and the future of the event. 

Mountainfilm is a film festival that takes place in Telluride, Colorado, but it will soon tour in Carbondale.

For this year's Ebertfest, the festival's leaders say they've decided to honor 10 years since the passing of film critic Roger Ebert with a line-up of films under the theme "Roger Ebert and Empathy."

The University of Illinois’ Media and Cinema Studies department will host its annual Illinifest Student Film Festival Saturday at 5 pm at the Gregory Hall Theater in Urbana. The festival is produced, programmed and curated entirely by University of Illinois students.
