Each hour this evening features a "piano quintet", a work for piano plus string quartet, firstly, the Schumann Opus 44, then the Faure Opus 89 (the 1st of two).
Nikolai Lugansky plays “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini” with the San Francisco Symphony
Lugansky is a pianist who as a youth taught himself to play a Beethoven piano sonata by ear before he learned to read music.
