It's a busy start to 2016 for C-U at Home, a homeless advocacy group in Champaign-Urbana.  Morning Edition host Brian Moline spoke with the group's Executive Director, Melany Jackson about the opening of the new Phoenix Daytime Drop-In Center, the group's annual "One Winter Night" event, and much more.

Scarves are showing up on statues around Champaign-Urbana with a message to take one if you need it. It’s the work of Gretchen Warner. She wanted to find a way to help people stay warm this winter, so she started crocheting. 

With wind chills in recent days near thirty below zero, many of the homeless in the area find shelter is often in short supply when they need it most.
