We gave power to the Illinois story through original films; delivered balanced, fair, and non-partisan election coverage as well as empowered local citizens through debates and voter guides; and equipped local schools and children with innovative tools to develop critical skills.

Illinois Radio Reader’s principal fundraiser, the annual Vintage Vinyl sale, returns for its 23rd year this Saturday, October 1, 2016, at the Fluid Event Center in Champaign. 

Due to the state budget impasse, WILL's broadcasts of newspapers and magazines on special radios for the visually impaired ended on January 1, going to a network-only service.  Funding has been secured to resume those broadcasts through the rest of the fiscal year, starting Monday.

The Illinois Radio Reader at WILL is among those that are turning to only national programming after the loss of an Illinois State Library grant.  The state approved $300,000 in grant funding last week, but this money covered the Illinois Talking Book and Braille Service, but not the Radio Information Service. 

All proceeds from the Vintage Vinyl sale benefit WILL's Illinois Radio Reader program.  Illinois Public Media's Brian Moline talked with Illinois Radio Reader Coordinator Kathie Spegal about the sale and how it will help the Illinois Radio Reader program.
