Malcolm Hill scored 30 points and Kendrick Nunn added 22 as Illinois defeated No. 20 Purdue 84-70 on Sunday. Hill and Nunn combined to shoot 17-for-27 from the field. The Illini also held Purdue's two 7-footers, A.J. Hammons and Isaac Haas, to a combined 16 points.
The Wolverines used a 9-2 run in the second half to take a double-digit lead over Illinois in the Big Ten season opener for both teams. Mark Donnal led Michigan with 26 points, while Kendrick Nunn scored 23 to lead the Illini in a losing effort.
Kendrick Nunn scored 18 of his career-high 28 points in the second half and Malcolm Hill finished with 20 Wednesday night to help Illinois beat Yale 69-65.
Kendrick Nunn scored 21 points and Illinois shot 48 percent from the field.
