Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”.  From the archives, it’s the Philharmonic’s “9/11 Anniversary Broadcast”. The New York Choral Artists are featured in Brahms’ “A German Requiem” and John Adams’ “On the Transmigration of Souls”. Kurt Masur conducted the Brahms’, and Lorin Maazel conducted the Adams’.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Sylvia McNair and 3 other vocal soloists, the New York Choral Artists, and the American Boychoir in Beethoven’s “9th Symphony”.  Also on the program, Dvroak’s “Cello Concerto” with soloist Yo-Yo Ma.

Masur passed away last December 19th. The Philharmonic put together this program in his honor.

Honoring conductor Kurt Masur, who died at the age of 88 in December of last year.

You may joke all you’d like about the music ensemble that had its own greenhouse or about a greenhouse effect that came from one of its players. But there’s a bit of truth in it all.
