State lawmakers are considering whether to ban flavored tobacco products in Illinois. Both sides of that debate made their cases before a panel of state senators in Springfield Tuesday.

Illinois lawmakers are considering a ban on flavored e-cigarettes and vaping products.

Champaign-Urbana Public Health Administrator Julie Pryde encourages anyone with symptoms – including coughing, difficulty breathing, chest pain and nausea – to see a doctor and disclose information about the vaping products they’ve used.

There are rising calls for tighter restrictions on the use of e-cigarettes in Illinois. They come as another death linked to vaping was reported this week.

At least one person has died in Illinois, after they used an e-cigarette product that appears to have caused fatal breathing problems. The death may be the first vaping fatality in the nation.
