WFMT Orchestra Series: San Francisco Symphony

Wednesday night June 12 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. You’ll hear Shostakovich’s “First Symphony” and Wynton Marsalis’ “Blues Symphony”. Cristian Măcelaru guest conducts.  Also on the program Finnish composer Outi Tarkiainen’s (OH-Tee Tar-key-aynen) “Milky Ways” featuring soloist Russ de Luna.

Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra

Thursday night October 27 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra”.  Music Director Manfred Honeck leads the group in Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Scheherazade” and Wynton Marsalis’ “Herald, Holler and Hallelujah”. Also on the program Britten’s “Piano Concerto” with soloist Leif Ove Andsnes.
