Vietnam War

Oral History Interview: Richard Friemel

Richard Friemel was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1939. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1958 and served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. He was an airplane mechanic.

While in Vietnam, he repaired aircraft engines and serviced planes that sprayed the herbicide Agent Orange to defoliate rural forested land.  He believes the heart condition he suffers from is a result of his exposure to the chemical.
