Reporter Roundtable: Governor’s Race
Governor J.B. Pritzker (D-IL) has announced that he will seek re-election for another term. His handling of the pandemic is a major talking point for both sides. While the filing period for office is still months away, a registered nurse from Chicago, Beverly Miles, announced she wants to challenge Pritzker in the primary. Several Republican politicians have planned campaigns to defeat Pritzker, including State Sen. Darren Bailey, millionaire businessman Gary Rabine, and former State Sen. Paul Schimpf. As a State Rep., Bailey sued Pritzker over his use of emergency powers during the pandemic.
For The 21st's weekly reporter roundtable, we’ll dig into Pritzker’s bid for re-election, who his challengers are and how well his message is going over with downstate voters.
