Tommy Prine brings his music to his father’s home state of Illinois

Tommy Prine was raised in Nashville with guitars lying around his house and music always on. And that’s because his father is John Prine, the legendary singer-songwriter, originally from Maywood, Illinois. He famously worked on songs while working a postal route here — was referred to by some as "the Mark Twain of songwriting.”

Tommy’s debut album is “This Far South.” It’s part coming-of-age story, part reckoning with the past — of the passing of his dad and childhood friends. But it’s also full of gratitude, fun, and the deep joy of marrying his best friend, Savannah.

On May 2, Prine will be performing the music of “This Far South” at the Raccoon Motel in Davenport, Iowa. And Sunday, May 4, he'll perform at the Rose Bowl Tavern in Urbana.
