Lawmakers Ask Gov. Rauner To Resume Contract Talks

Nearly three dozen Illinois legislators of both political stripes are asking Gov. Bruce Rauner to resume contract negotiations with the state's largest public-employee union. Most were Democrats, but a couple of Republicans joined in.  A state labor board sided with Rauner this month that talks were at "impasse', meaning the governor can impose his terms. He did that a second time Wednesday in announcing an employee drug and alcohol testing plan.

Many college campuses – including the University of Illinois -- have adopted the "Run, Hide, Fight" tactic that gained national attention during Monday's attack by a student at the Ohio State University. That student was later shot and killed by police. We asked U of I Police to explain the guidelines.

More than 40,000 undocumented Illinois residents, who came to the country as children, are protected from deportation and are able to work under an executive order put in place by President Barack Obama. But during his campaign, Donald Trump pledged to “immediately terminate” the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program — often referred to as DACA.
