The famous horn player Barry Tuckwell died recently. Born in Australia in 1931, Tuckwell was first horn player of the London Symphony until 1968 when he changed to the career of a soloist. Tuckwell recorded much of the concerto and chamber repertory for the horn, and many composers wrote works for him to play. On Classics of the Phonograph, Saturday at 11 am on WILL-FM, we will hear him in music of Mozart, Britten, and Brahms.
