On Saturday's show at 11, we highlight two American pianists, Julius Katchen and André Watts. Katchen was born in Long Branch, New Jersey in 1926. After a brilliant but brief career, he died in Paris in 1969. Watts was born in Nuremberg, Germany, in 1946, the son of an American Army sergeant. He performs still, and he is also is a Professor at Indiana University. Both pianists had spectacular techniques, and both played Gershwin. The notes should fly, so join us at 11.
