The Evening Concert

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 we pre-empt “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center” to bring you a holiday special “A Soulful Christmas”.  At 8:00 you’ll hear Latin American Christmas Carols on “Fiesta! With Elbio Barilari”.

Saturday morning at 9:00 am on FM 90.9 we pre-empt "Classics By Request" to bring you a holiday special: "A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols" recorded Christmas Eve in Cambridge, England. Michael Barone hosts.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 we pre-empt the Los Angeles Philharmonic for two holiday specials: “A Chanticleer Christmas” and “Welcome Christmas” featuring the group VocalEssence. You’ll hear traditional carols and music by John Rutter, Stephen Paulus and others.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 we pre-empt “Carnegie Hall Live” to bring you the 2021 “St. Olaf Christmas Festival”. The program includes sacred choral and instrumental music from many traditions: beloved hymns, classical masterworks, folk songs from around the world, and African-American spirituals.

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 we pre-empt the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast” to bring you two holiday specials: “A Paul Winter Solstice Celebration” and the iconic Jonathan Winters’ reading of Dickens “A Christmas Carol”.   

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear a classic archival performance of Handel’s “Messiah” led by Helmut Rilling.   Vocal soloists include Annette Dasch, Daniel Taylor, James Taylor, and Shenyang.
