The Evening Concert

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Haydn’s “88th Symphony” from New York, a “Mandolin Concerto” by Vivaldi from Chicago, Tchaikovsky’s “4th Symphony” from San Francisco, Mozart’s “K. 545 C Major Piano Sonata” from Carnegie Hall, then Sunday, Brahms’ “2nd String Sextet” from Lincoln Center and music by Mendelssohn on the “Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Vivaldi’s 4 violin concertos better known as “The Four Seasons” on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear Britten’s “Serenade for Tenor, Horn, and Strings” on the “Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “Carnegie Hall Live”.  Gustavo Dudamel leads the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in an all-Brahms program.  You’ll hear the “1st Symphony”, the “Academic Festival Overture” and “Variations on a Theme by Haydn”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. Conductor Laureate Herbert Blomstedt leads the group in Beethoven’s “6th Symphony”, the “Pastoral” and Mendelssohn’s “3rd Symphony”, the “Scottish”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Paul Lewis is the soloist in Beethoven’s “1st and 4th Piano Concertos”. Sir Andrew Davis guest conducts. Also on the program, Sir Michael Tippett’s “Little Music for Strings” and “Praeludium for Brass”. 

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”.  Leonidas Kavakos is the soloist in Korngold’s “Violin Concerto”. Alan Gilbert conducts.  Also on the program Nielsen’s “2nd” and “3rd” symphonies and Beethoven’s “Coriolan Overture”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. Music Director Designate Esa-Pekka Salonen leads the group in Strauss’ “Thus Spoke Zarathustra” and Sibelius’ “Four Legends from the Kalevala”. Also on the program Thorvaldsdottir’s “Metacosmos”.
