The Evening Concert

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.  You’ll hear Beethoven’s “9th Symphony” in a remastered 1966 performance led by William Steinberg featuring soprano Ella Lee, mezzo-soprano Joanna Simon, tenor Richard Kness, bass Thomas Paul, and the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Rolandseck Festival”. Elena Bashkirova is the pianist in Mozart’s “13th Piano Concerto”.  Also on the program Beethoven’s “Archduke” Trio with cellist Frans Helmerson.  

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Mahler’s “3rd Symphony” led by guest conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada, with soprano Kelly O’Connor, Women of the Chicago Symphony Chorus and the Anima Young Singers of Greater Chicago.  

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Beethoven’s “1st Piano Concerto” with soloist and conductor Jeffrey Kahane. Also on the program Mozart’s “33rd Symphony” and Bach’s “Double” Concerto.

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Beethoven’s “1st Piano Concerto” from New York, Mahler’s “3rd Symphony” from Chicago, Mozart’s “13th Piano Concerto” from Bonn, Beethoven’s “9th Symphony” from Pittsburgh, then Sunday Schumann’s “Piano Quintet” from Lincoln Center, and an episode of “Early Music Now”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Ravel’s “String Quartet” on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”.  At 8:00 you’ll hear music of 14th century France on “Early Music Now with Sara Schneider”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Hitzacker Chamber Music Festival. Violinist Bomsori Kim is the soloist in Beethoven’s “Spring” Sonata. Also on the program Schumann’s “Fairy Tale Stories” with soloist Sabine Meyer.  

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. From their archives you’ll hear Debussy’s “La mer” (the Sea) and Ravel’s “Noble and Sentimental Waltzes”. Pierre Boulez guest conducts. Also on the program Ligeti’s “Violin Concerto”.
