A new week of “Evening Concert” programs

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Mendelssohn’s “Violin Concerto” from New York, Schubert’s “9th Symphony” from Chicago, Beethoven’s “5th Symphony” from Milwaukee, Weber’s “1st Clarinet Concerto” from Pittsburgh, then Sunday a piano trio by Dvorak from Lincoln Center, and an episode of “Early Music Now”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. You’ll hear Handel’s “Messiah” with vocal soloists Christina Landshamer, Robin Blaze, Paul Appleby, and Paul Armin Edelmann and the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh led by Betsy Burleigh. Music Director Manfred Honeck conducts.

Johannes Moser plays Shostakovich’s “1st Cello Concerto”

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Johannes  Moser is the soloist in Shostakovich’s “1st Cello Concerto”. Music Director Laureate Edo de Waart conducts. Also on the program Rachmaninoff’s “2nd Symphony” and Britten’s “Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. In a program from the archives you’ll hear Tchaikovsky’s “1st Piano Concerto” with soloist Yefim Bronfman. Also on the program Ravel’s “Alborado del gracioso”. The program differs from the one listed in Patterns Magazine.
