The Evening Concert

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Brahms’ “Violin Concerto” from New York, Berg’s “Violin Concerto” from Chicago, Mozart’s “Paris” Symphony from San Francisco, Beethoven’s “4th Piano Concerto” from Carnegie Hall, then Sunday, “Great Duos” from Lincoln Center and Brahms’ “Horn Trio” on the “Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear the Jupiter String Quartet play Hugo Wolf’s “Italian Serenade” on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear two works for horn and piano by Richard Strauss  on the “Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “Carnegie Hall Live”. Christina Pluhar leads her group “L’Arpeggiata” in a concert of works by the less-well-known composer  Luigi Rossi. You’ll hear the Sinfonia and Ballo from “Il Palazzo Incantato”.  You’ll also hear Celine Scheen and Giuseppina Bridelli in arias from “Orfeo”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. Christian Tetzlaff is the soloist in Mozart’s “3rd Violin Concerto”. Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas conducts.  Also on the program Sibelius’ “2nd Symphony” and Ravel’s “Le Tombeau de Couperin”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Principal Bassoonist Keith Buncke is the soloist in Mozart’s “Bassoon Concerto”. Rafael Payare guest conducts. Also on the program, Bernstein’s “Symphonic Dances from “West Side Story” and Bartok’s “Concerto for Orchestra”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”.  You’ll hear Mahler’s “1st Symphony” in D Major” sometimes sub-titled “Titan”. Alan Gilbert conducts. Also on the program Unsuk Chin’s “Clarinet Concerto” with soloist Kari Krikku.
