Paul Jacobs is the organ soloist for the Saint-Saens' work, and Isabelle Faust is the violin soloist for the Schumann work.
Helmuth Rilling conducts this concert from the Philharmonic's archives.
The "much more" includes the "Organ Smphony" of Saint-Saens, Act 3 of Wagner's "Tristan und Isolde", and more holiday music.
You'll also hear music by Enescu and Haydn on tonight's programs.
Also to be heard: Barber's “Medea’s Meditation and Dance of Vengeance” and Prokofiev's “Sinfonia concertante for Cello and Orchestra”.
It's a concert-version of Act 2 of the famous Wagner opera.
