An all-Bach program by Accademia Bizantina on “Carnegie Hall Live!”: tonight’s “Evening Concert”
Violinist Viktoria Mullova is the soloist in two of Bach's Violin Concertos and one of the Partitas for Solo Violin with Accademia Bizantina.
7-9 PM Monday-Thursday & Sunday
Great performances from the great concert venues, 7 to 9 pm Monday thru Thursday, and Sunday, on WILL-FM.
Violinist Viktoria Mullova is the soloist in two of Bach's Violin Concertos and one of the Partitas for Solo Violin with Accademia Bizantina.
Also a symphony by Mahler, some American chamber music and Schubert's last String Quintet on this Week's "Evening Concert".
It's a cryptic headline, to be sure, explained as music by Mozart (first name Wolfgang) and music by Korngold, (middle name Wolfgang), with music by non-Wolfgang-named Dowland, Bartok and Poulenc.
Alson on the program: Beethoven's "7th Symphony".
Also on the program: Haydn's "Lord Nelson Mass" and "Six Songs" by Schubert.
Tonight you'll hear works by Handel, Vivaldi, Bach and others.
The early works by the "2nd Viennese School of Composers" (Schoenberg, Webern and Berg) on this program are closer in style to Brahms' music than their later works.
Andras Schiff plays Mozart's 27th Piano Concerto, and later in the week, Poulenc's "The Masked Ball", just a few of the many magnificent works on this week's "Evening Concert".
The "Concerto" is by Chausson whose music is not heard as much as others, but offers audio delights nonetheless.
Tone poems by Richard Strauss tonight: Don Juan and "Till".
