The Evening Concert

MTT leads his group in two symphonies that capture the spirit of their times: Mahler's 4th and Bernstein's 2nd.

By "Unfinished" it is meant that there are only two movements of a traditional four movement symphony....but what a great work, "unfinished" or not!

Shostakovich's 7th is one of the longest works in the repertoire; most who hear it remark that it doesn't seem that way, as the music keeps you listening all the way through...

Additionally this week we'll have a piano concerto not-named-as-such by Falla, and Mozart's Famous "Gran Partita" Serenade plus much more.

The Violin Sonata in G is Brahms first sonata for those two instruments. It was written within five years of the work by Smetana. Smetana's programmatic 1st String Quartet (From My Life) attempts to capture the artist's emotions as his deafness worsened.

Kavakos is a violinistic (is that a word?) force to be reckoned with!
