The Evening Concert

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Rachmaninoff’s “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini” from New York, Mozart’s “3rd Violin Concerto” from Chicago, Mahler’s “4th Symphony” from Berlin, Rachmaninoff’s “3rd Piano Concerto” from Pittsburgh, then Sunday Spohr’s “Nonet” from Lincoln Center, and an episode of “Early Music Now”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Dvorak’s Op. 65 “Piano Trio in F Minor” on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”.  At 8:00 you’ll hear music for “April Fools’ Day” on “Early Music Now with Sara Schneider”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Michael Rusinek is the soloist in Weber’s “1st Clarinet Concerto”. Manfred Honeck conducts.  Also on the program Strauss’ Suite from the ballet “Whipped Cream” and waltzes and polkas by the Strauss family and others.   

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. You’ll hear Beethoven’s “5th Symphony” and Rachmaninoff’s “The Isle of the Dead”. Peter Oundjian guest  conducts. Also on the program Debussy’s “Premiere rapsodie” with soloist Todd Levy.

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Schubert’s “9th Symphony”, the “Great” C Major symphony and Haydn’s “95th Symphony”. Daniel Barenboim conducts.  Also on the program Schoenberg’s “Pelleas and Melisande”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Augustin Hadelich is the soloist in Mendelssohn’s “Violin Concerto”. Alan Gilbert conducts. Also on the program Mahler’s “5th Symphony”. The program differs from the one listed in Patterns Magazine.

You’ll hear Handel’s “Messiah” with vocal soloists Christina Landshamer, Robin Blaze, Paul Appleby, and Paul Armin Edelmann and the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh led by Betsy Burleigh. Music Director Manfred Honeck conducts.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Johannes  Moser is the soloist in Shostakovich’s “1st Cello Concerto”. Music Director Laureate Edo de Waart conducts. Also on the program Rachmaninoff’s “2nd Symphony” and Britten’s “Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes”.
