The Evening Concert

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Rossini’s “Stabat Mater” from New York, Mahler’s “8th Symphony” from Chicago”, Beethoven’s “2nd Piano Concerto” from Milwaukee, Brahms’ “Violin Concerto” from Pittsburgh, then Sunday Ruth Crawford Seeger’s “String Quartet” from Lincoln Center, and an episode of “Early Music Now”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Cesar Franck’s famous “Piano Quintet in F Minor” on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”.  At 8:00 you’ll hear the music of Michael Praetorius on “Early Music Now with Sara Schneider”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. You’ll hear Ravel’s “Bolero”, Alborado del gracioso”, Pavane for a Dead Princess” and  “Menuet antique”. Leonard Slatkin guest conducts.  Also on the program Michel Camilo’s “2nd Piano Concerto” with the composer as soloist.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Sonora Slocum is the soloist in Nielsen’s “Flute Concerto” and Leila Josefowicz is the soloist in John Adams’ “Violin Concerto”.  Also on the program Nielsen’s “5th Symphony”.  

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Schubert’s “9th Symphony” and Berg’s Violin Concerto” with soloist Arabella Steinbacher. Manfred Honeck guest conducts.  Also on the program, the Webern orchestration of the “Ricercar No. 2” from Bach’s “The Musical Offering”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”.  Marc-Andre Hamelin is the piano soloist in Franck’s “Symphonic Variations”. Sir Andrew Davis conducts. Also on the program selections from “Romeo and Juliet” by Prokofiev. The program differs from the one listed in Patterns Magazine.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. You’ll hear Bach’s “St. John Passion”. Manfred Honeck conducts with Martin Lattke as  the Evangelist, Paul Armin Edelmann as Christ and The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. You’ll hear Gershwin’s “Piano Concerto in F” with Jeffrey Kahane as the soloist conducting from the piano bench.  Also on the program Milhaud’s “La Création du Monde” and Rachmaninoff’s “Symphonic Dances”.
