Mid-American Gardener: Landscaping for bees, using Roundup on grass, scale on star magnolia

Erickson explains that spring is a crucial time for honey bees to replenish supplies of nectar. Good sources are early spring bulbs, bleeding hearts, witch hazel, blackberries and flowering quince, along with trees such as maples, alders and birch.
