Automatic license plate readers, like many technologies available to law enforcement, offer power that police praise and civil rights advocates consider warily. ALPRs, as they’re known, can scan and record thousands of license plates every hour.

Running Pro and Boston Marathon Champion Amby Burfoot Takes On The Illinois Half
Amby Burfoot won the 1968 Boston Marathon. Since then he’s gone on to change the face of running though his stint as Editor-In-Chief of Runner’s World. Burfoot was in town for the Illinois Marathon Expo. He talked with us after his presentation at the expo. He’ll be running the half marathon tomorrow.

Illinois Marathon Organizers Predict Race Will Go On
Organizers of the Illinois Marathon say they're optimistic Saturday's race will go on despite a forecast of rain and thunderstorms. Scott Friedlein is the Emergency Services Coordinator for the race. He says, "We run this race rain or shine. The only thing that would stop this event from occurring is dangerous weather which would be lightning or tornadic activity in the area."

Update: Dewitt County Board Approves Landfill Deal, Ending PCB Fight
DeWitt County Board members voted 9 to 2 to approve a new host agreement with Peoria Disposal/Area Disposal, which owns the landfill.
