Boneyard Arts Festival Showcases Local Artists

40 North

The Boneyard Arts Festival – presented by 40 North and Champaign County Arts Council – returns this weekend for its annual four-day event showcasing a range of different artists in the community.

Kelly White is the Executive Director at 40 North. She said the event  is unique because it’s not only a way to discover art and meet artists, but it’s also a great way to explore the community. White said what's great about the event is that it makes art easily accessible to people in the community.

“Yeah, and not everyone goes to galleries or museums all the time, and so you might reach an audience that you wouldn’t necessarily meet, because they may not seek out traditional spaces for art but they’ll definitely go to a cafe or a restaurant and they’ll get to experience it there so it kind of takes the art kind of to where the people are,” White said.

You can find an interactive guide at the 40 North website.

The festival focuses on different areas each day. Thursday's focus was the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus. Friday and Saturday will have events in Champaign and Urbana, and Sunday will feature displays across Champaign County outside of C-U.
