The Minnesota Orchestra comes to Krannert Center for the Performing Arts on the University of Illinois Urbana campus Thursday night.
The orchestra has been led by conductor and music director Osmo Vanska since 2003. Tonight’s program includes works by Sibelius, Tchaikovsky, and Beethoven.
Illinois Public Media’s Brian Moline spoke with the Finnish conductor about Thursday's program, and what Vanska learned from a labor dispute between management and performers that took place about five years ago.
You'll also hear an excerpt of the Minnesota Orchestra's recent recording of Mahler's Symphony No. 5, which has been nominated for a Grammy Award.
